Immediate Reminder — Library boards may not meet today, November 3
Tuesday, November 3, 2026, is Illinois’s general election. OMA section 2.07 prohibits public bodies from holding or scheduling regular or special meetings on a general-election day. The prohibition became effective January 1, 2026. 5 ILCS 120/2.07 and State Board of Elections calendar.
A library board, committee, or other subsidiary body must not meet today —even if November 3 appears on its previously approved annual schedule. Any replacement meeting must receive the notice and agenda required for its meeting type.
